The BIG Idea:
This American Slave Narrative Unit was developed for the purpose of allowing students to learn about the everyday life of a African American slaves from the perspective of actual slaves through oral and narrative history. In addition, the unit will allow students to explore the ideas and opinions of slavery from slaves' perspectives. We also hope that students can begin to connect social ideas with the institution of slavery along with developing their researching, reading, and writing abilities.

Reading Proficiency: Evenly distributed from 4th Grade through College
